Abbot Enheduanna Schwarzschild Name meaning: -Abbot: Father defined by or in religious connotation/definition. From the beginning, Lost was riddled with religious tone and it was obvious it would play some sort of role. Seemed fitting to start here. -Enheduanna: Mesopotamian High Priestess and the modern civilization’s first recorded poet. I created the name after season 1. John explaining backgammon history to Walt spawned the idea that the island may have a link yo the beginning of civilization and maybe even time itself. It was “poetic” and important to add this to my pseudonym. I needed the mother of poetry in modern civilization to match the religious “Father” in my first name. -Schwarzschild: Reference to Karl Schwarzschild and Schwarzschild Black Holes. Smoke monsters, hatches, and curing paralysis doesn’t point to black holes…but the sci-fi elements ran deep and obvious. The wheel moving the island and transporting Ben felt like it got plucked from my imagination. A.E.S.

  2. Well, put the wheel on its axis, because there is a certain saying, supposedly by the producers, that is ruining, yes ruining theories here. My own included, well…at least some of my comments, and Im not going to lie, I hate rumors as much as spoilers.
    People who spend a lot of time on the site(s) deserve more than made up quotes and jokes made into plot devices.
    It is confusing, and a horrible way to lose track of an already hard to understand and interperate show.

  4. AES, I really hate the rhetoric myself! I realize people are free to read the media outlets, however, nothing should be taken too literally, either. It ruins their chances of figuring out the show, IMO.

    This show is very difficult to understand, as you say, and I personally get nauseous when I see what I know is untrue printed somewhere. What is worse than that, is that it continues to be believed years after the original printing of the information. Spreading like wildfire!

    Almost becoming, like some ‘Urban Legend’ of sorts, with a life of its own. I have to remind myself at times, I am watching the same show, it becomes so distorted.

    Having said that, people become agitated when you try to point out, what they have heard is inaccurate.

    I am finally coming to the realization not to take the writers Podcasts too seriously. After all, they are responsible for writing Benjamin Linus’ character! lol I should know they are accomplished liars!

  5. Ah HA…I think…I hope this works…and Ironically enough, I feel the same way as Jacob about technology now.
    I was touched by the posts on Toms “where..” theory. I feel I should give something back…
    There has been many theories on Jacob, who he is specifically, but with a nail in the tire along the way. This nail has caused us to travel off course, walk the wrong path, and write countless pointless theories.

    What I want you to do…is watch. At 50 seconds in, listen. Listen to the words, the humor in them, and lastly…who actually says them, and the twist that was applied to make one of the craziest rumors in the theories sites, take control of people theorizing…him.

  7. AES, I recall that Podcast vividly! Like it was yesterday! And, I watched relentless theories get posted on who Jacob was!

    I am not going to say definitively that Jacob will not turn out to be someone we know on Lost, but I have always felt, that unless the writers can come up with a story that makes the character believable in that role, it is best left that Jacob is some sort of deity, unique to the origins of ‘the island’ and its Ancestors.

  8. I have been looking up the saying..”Jacob has appeared in the first season/episode, in a non-speaking role” for three days now. EVERY site on LOst seems to have this misconception. Countless Aaron, Smokey, and even Vincent…hes a dog…have been posted all over the Lost universe. Based off something that wasnt correctly worded…are we playing ‘telephone’…and was said by an actor on the show, not a producer or writer.
    Dcuse09, I believe snapped a little on the subject of where is this posted or quoted. So instead, I found out where it was mincommunicated from.
    This is why wording is so important when describing the show. With everything involved, the smallest detail misconstrued, can cause a ‘butterfly effect’…sucking up to Admin, I know Emzi likes that movie ;]…

    I’ve been saying this forever, (most recently a few weeks ago in the comments of SwanStation’s Jacob theory and question specifically about this quote) that it was Michael Emerson’s comment, not the producers…even gave the info that it was an interview with Comic News Insiders in June of 2007.

    sadly, these things go in one ear and out the other sometimes, and I essentially gave up.

    oh well.

  14. I have a question about the youtube video that A.E.S. linked to. It’s obviously Michael Emerson speaking, but am I correct in assuming that he is not watching the same video that is being shown to us as he is doing the interview? I mean, someone took the audio clip of the interview and put it together with a blurry profile of a random extra from the pilot, right?

  22. Becaan, sometimes I skip a Jacob theory when they are posted, Im not going to lie…I wish I would have seen that earlier.
    Anyone with any other debunking or rumor squashing, please feel free here. I would love to clear the air of as much nonsense as possible.

  23. I don’t cheat A.E.S. there are a few here that know I began watching the series from start to finish. The first thing I did was note Jack’s first action. And that was your little display in your little DmAs thread. I don’t have to prove anything too anybody. Ive dealt with plenty just like you.

    And Ive already forgotten about it just like I’m sure you’d prefer. If not let me know.

  24. Smoke, heres the deal, were on a lot, and discuss alot, so Im just going to clear this up from my end…
    I seriously, have no clue, what you are talking about. Where you got the idea that I said you cheat, is beyond me. Please point that out.
    As for the calling of ‘freak’ and the repeated call outs by you…I really dont appreciate it. If you for a second think I am being ignorant to you or anyone else here, have the decency to ask me about it, rather than rambling on over a series of one liners, and jabs.
    What is my little DmAs thread? What about the utube video angered you?
    What is it specifically, that I said?

    Got one point too add in that youtube vid I think Emerson says we’ll never hear Jacob speak…..correct me if im wrong but didn’t he say ‘help me’ to Locke wen Ben took Locke to see him?

  27. Thats kind of my point highbrow….we can’t take what the writers say at face value all the time. Though admittedly when that podcast was released they wern’t planning on going in that direction. So technically at the time it was true.

  29. now, rumor has it that Hurley (the real actor) mentioned on some 24 hour podcast for charity that Jacob was on the plane with him when he went to Hawaii for shooting. I’ve never heard the quote first hand, so someone might want to debunk it or possible find out who was on the plane with Hurley that acts on the show 🙂

  33. The audio definately seems spliced there. Don’t think they were watching this footage. I’d ignore this completely in fear of being steered away from more important things.

  35. Hey, anyone every figure out what the major clue in the pilot episode was? Check this out…

    In the opening scene when Jack wakes up in the jungle, you can see Ben’s baton on the ground near Jack’s head! I think that’s the major clue. It means that Jack will flash back to this time in 2004 and the series will end exactly the way it started!

    I’m pretty sure I heard this confirmed by a key grip who worked on a couple episodes back in season two…

  36. The writers initially had not planned for Jacob to be seen by the audience. When they decided Ben would take Locke to see Jacob, they used an actor, who played as an extra on Lost, to play Jacob sitting in the chair. Not realizing people would run off like ‘madhatters’ saying he looked this character or that character.

    In addition, at the time, the writers stated they had no future plans whether they would ever show Jacob again.

    That is NOT to say they won’t in future. But, the point of this post IS, that people stop speculating about who he looks like, because it won’t bring you closer to knowing who Jacob is.

  38. highbrow, do you really believe thats a baton near jacks head? I heard that too, but the images are inconclusive. i do think jack flashed at that location for sure, he did not crash in my opinion as i’ve stated in another post.

  41. Haha seems like Highbrows ignoring you Dabs lol. Highbrow would this not go against everything you stand for lol…..if you actually put clips of the baton that Ben uses to kick arab butt next to the one lying on the floor in the jungle next to jacks head they are completely different sizes. The one on the floor is to fat to have been the baton….I think it is just a dark piece of bamboo tree….possibly in a shadow or something. Plus the writers wouldn’t know that four seasons on they were gonna use Ben in a scene with a cosh.

  43. Oh, there is absolutely no way they’re making this up as they go along. If they were they wouldn’t have been able to weave this complicated story with a predetermined ending time (six seasons). No way. Nope. Unless I hear it from them I will never believe it. If I hear it from them I will probably figure they’re lying and I still won’t believe it. Having this thing mostly planned out from the beginning is how they’ve been able to make it so great. Without that, Lost would be Heroes.

  44. I’d prefer it if they didn’t show Jacob at all. Because i could come on these sites and laugh at people making theories and suggestions on who Jacob is and what he looks like, oh wait…… it’s already happened 🙂 lol

  48. Maybe the island is the Genesis planet! And Jacob is like, a second Spock that was created but not rescued… like a twin or something.

    Maybe the Captain Kirk will show up at some point…

    Also, I’m not 100% sure of this, but regarding the writers’ statement about time travel…
    In season one, they made a comment to the effect that “there are no space ships or time travel.” I think this comment was made before all the mythological details were worked out, but clearly they had to know time was involved, right? I think they were trying to eliminate the idea that there is a classic “time-machine” like back to the future where you input a date and off you go. I seem to remember a later comment where they made this clarification that time is clearly a factor, and some kind of time-travelish phenomenon is going on, but not in the sense of your traditional sci-fi time machine. Maybe I’m remembering incorrectly, but that’s what I’ve got.
