The Swan – The Pearl – The Numbers – The Incident

The Swan station has a strong connection with electro magnetism, Horace asked someone over the phone (probably Dr. Chang) if the death of that Dharma worker was a result of the electro magnetism. When the tooth filling was described as being shot through that guys brain, I pictured Jack’s key-necklace being pulled like a magnet in The Hatch (The Swan).

Something is going to cause this accident (the incident) that will make it so the button needs to be pushed every 108 minutes. Now who else was counting off the numbers as that Dharma worker said, whats the serial number for this door, 4.8.15….

Those numbers have no real meaning, they are serial numbers assigned to a door model for an underground hatch thing. Hurley is going to be involved in the incident, he always finds a way of getting himself in the middle of everything and he will make those numbers the code because he will believe the numbers are what is needed to be pushed in the first place! He will probably being the first one to ever enter the numbers into the computer.

The Pearl station that Locke thought made the The Swan a hoax was probably the opposite. Maybe after the incident occurs Dr. Chang will know how important it is to have the numbers be pushed every 108 minutes, so important that he feels it neccessary to create a station to monitor The Swan station incase some jackhole falls asleep or is passing a stone in bathroom for an hour and 48 min.

Dr. Chang seems to care about baby Miles, maybe he sends Mama Miles and Baby Miles away after the incident because he no longer feels that the island is a safe place for his son to live. Maybe baby Miles is exposed to something during the incident to give him this gift or him existing as an adult and child at the same time makes him like special so that he can talk to the dead, idk where I am going with that…………..

I was definitely wrong about Ilana working for Widmore because that guy who grabbed Miles and was trying to convince him not to go is on the island now with Ilana and helping her. He also said the what lyes in the shadow of the statue line which now I think is a code lol……I just wished that it was more! I want to see that statue! They were learning about ancient Egypt in Dharma class, did anyone catch what it said on the board?

As for who “that guy” and Ilana are working for, I think it is the DI or Ann Arbor, Off Island Dharma Initiave that are trying to get back but the right way! They don’t want to help Charles or Ben, they have their own goal in mind and that has something to do with the case that was dropped!

Someone here mentioned how Dharma packages were still dropped in 2004. The purge is called the “the purge” for a reason, it was not called THE GENOCIDE OF DI. Some DI definitely crossed over and were turned to others like Cindy. That is why the DI still has contacts on the island with the others.

  1. Josh, great job here explaining the man in the bag.
Lol, I just wrote a theory covering some of the important events that occured tonight, and that was the one question at the end…
You would make a hell of a clean up hitter in baseball, homerun on that thought alone.

  2. Yea I didn’t think that dead guy was very important, just the way that he died, I think a lot of workers are going to get hurt or killed working on The Swan and The Orchid (we see someone get hurt while working in The Orchid in the first episode of season 5, same scene where we see Daniel pretending to be a worker in the station).

It was interesting the way Dr. Chang came back and said, “What body” they are totally covering up the fact that people are getting killed working in these stations.

If Daniel came back as an Ann Arbor scientist, then how did Chang not recognize him sneaking around below The Orchid in the first episode, and how did Daniel even leave/get back, on the sub I assume, but how?

I forgot to address this Faraday issue in my theory!

  3. after seeing that… I thin “what lies….” is more then a code… Something important is there that’s why he said miles wasn’t ready … And they showed the statue on the trailer… So it’s coming up.

  4. The thing about the body that bothers me is what are they doing with it at the orchid. If he died they could have buried him anywhere… especially somewhere closer so they didn’t have to chance other people in the main dharma camp finding out about it.

What is Chang doing with the bodies? Is he using the energy from the orchid to destroy them, or is he using it to do something else with the bodies? Experiments taking something dead back to a time when it was living? The last sentence it just a wild guess, just when he said “What body” it kind of made me think that there was now nothing that needed to be disposed of.

  5. I also wondered why they had to take the body to the orchid… And it also entered my head about putting the body in the time machine… And then telling him… Stay away from the swan “metal mouth”

  6. Joshcgs, I really like your theory! Nicely written and presented as well.

I think you summed things up pretty nicely, and am inclined to agree with you on most of it.

I think it’s pretty ironic if the numbers only turn out to be the serial numbers with no other significance, but there has to be a reason they were iterated from the Radio Tower.

I was under the impression, that the dead man was shot in the forehead, or did I misunderstand Miles? I got the whole rendition about the tooth exploding, though.

I knew Ilana and Bram did not work for Widmore, but still believe they work for Ben.

    Again, nice theory!

  7. I’m not 100% sure but I think when miles originally saw the guy he thought the hole was a bullet hole but after he talked to him or looked in his thoughts or whatever he found out the came from his tooth filling being shot out of his head.

  8. When I heard the tooth thing I just laughed cuz I know I remember hurley saying in Via Domis that he didn’t like the hatch cuz whenever he went around it… It made the fillings in his teeth hurt

  9. I definitely think Miles’ power is a result of the incident. The opening scene suggests they are just now moving from ‘somewhere’ and his reaction suggests this is the first time he’s talked to dead people. The time-line would also make sense. I’m looking forward to finding out exactly what it was.

  10. And there was definitely something wrong with Miles’ mom when he was all punk rock…perhaps cancer due to the exposure on the island? I think it’s fine to assume Chang loved his son and made them leave…I think his mom was lying to him….

  11. So why would Miles’ mother hate his father for protecting them? There has to be more to it than that. Maybe she resents the fact that Pierre puts them in danger for his science projects.

  12. or maybe something happens to Miles via the incident, and he really does die or comes near death. That would pull in the near-death-experience folks. It seems that is the goal of the show – to pull in as many religions/beliefs/mystic events/theories/science as possible.

  13. Also notice that Mile’s mother died of cancer at a fairly young age… that’s certainly radiation exposure.

The Pearl was a fake monitoring station designed as a psychological experiement. You tell the people going in that everyone ELSE is being evaluated and give them the fake task of writing detail after detail of meaningless nothing and send it up a tube that goes to a field in the middle of nowhere that nobody reads. I think the point of the Pearl was to give doubt to certain members of Dharma that the events taking place in other stations was real. After all, if the other stations are just involved in a pyschological test, then they aren’t REALLY doing time travel and magnetism experiments are they?
