JACOBS NEMESIS (ESAU) IS THE BLACK SMOKE / MONSTER AND TAKES THE FORM OF ANY DEAD PERSON ON THE ISLAND!

“Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.” ‘Romans 9:15.
God said that he loved Jacob, but hated Esau

Jacobs nemesis (from the opening scene of season 5 finale) is apparently going to be called ESAU
Esau in the past said that he was looking for a loophole to kill Jacob. He spent more than a century trying to find a loophole that would allow him to kill Jacob and in 2007, he succeeded in doing so by taking the form of the deceased John Locke. As Locke, he convinced Benjamin Linus to kill Jacob in his chamber.
Esau (Jacobs nemesis) has found the loophole in the form of the black smoke “THE MONSTER”
The monster enables him to shape-shift which allows him to take the form of any deceased person on the island. Esau / the monster was Christian and is also at the moment Locke.

When Locke was told that he had to die, he was told by Richard, who in turn was told by Esau (the imposter Locke / the monster). When the real Locke fell down the well, he was meet my Esau (the imposter Christian / the monster). Christian / Esau told Locke that he would have to die.
Hence Esau’s motive was to kill Locke. Why? to become Locke who was at that time, the leader of the Others.
When Esau becomes Christian, he always referres to himself as being able to speak on Jacobs behalf. Why? Because he doesnt agree with what Jacob does (since he is Jacobs nemesis).

When Locke’s body was returned to the Island, Esau appeared in Locke’s form (i.e. Esau / the monster has now become Locke).
Ben and Esau (impostor Locke) traveled to the main Island where they met Sun and Frank. Once there, Esau (impostor Locke) disappeared into the jungle while Ben unsuccessfully attempted to summon the monster in order to be judged (He could not summon the monster because the monster / Esau was imposter Locke at the time).
The impostor Locke then returned, stating that he knew where the monster resided, leading Ben and Sun to the Temple.
In the temple, Ben fell through the floor onto a lower level. Despite Ben’s pleas not to, the impostor Locke (Esau) left Ben to get something to help back up.
Why? Because the monster / black smoke / Esau / imposter Locke was about to visit Ben, in the form of his daughter, Alex (remember, Esau is a shape-shifter and can become dead people like Christian, Locke and now Alex).
Alex informed Ben that she knew of his plan to kill Locke again, and demanded Ben follow Locke’s leadership and do everything Locke says. Later Esau (imposter Locke) and Ben meet Richard Alpert. Richard greeted imposter Locke and commented that there was something different about him (obviously, cos its not Locke, its Esau).
When imposter Locke and Ben finally enter Jacobs tomb / room, Jacob immediately recognised the impostor Locke as being his old nemesis (Esau), realising that the impostor had found his long-sought “loophole.”

  1. What about when Christian appeared to Sun and Frank? I can’t remember exactly, but wasn’t John on the other island with Ben at that time? Can Esau be two people at once?

  2. When Locke and Ben were approaching Jacobs statue on the trek accross the coast, Ben told Locke that his dead daughter told him to do everyting Locke said or she would destroy him , Locke didnt seem to know anything about this stating, “when did this happen?”, this is another thing we have to put into consideration with this theory, I wreckon this theory is pretty close but we still need to put some more things into consideration, I’d say theres a few more catches to the story yet, a lot more! 🙂

  3. I dont think Locke would want Ben to know that he knew about his daugher so would have to acted suprised…

And also you dont know for sure that when Christian was with Sun and Frank that Locke was with Ben at that exact moment in time 😀

  4. Yes I agree. This is exactly what I think is to be the case! By stealing Locke’s body, the OTHER guy was able to fool Richard and get to Jacob and then have Ben kill Jacob.
But I’m still racking my brain about the “other” storyline…which is the Losties who caused the incident/nuked everything! Are they coming back to 2007 or before the plane takes off in 2003? and since they didn’t change anything in the 70s, what was the point of them going back? they were just fulfilling destiny?

  5. nice work.i totaly think this is the storey. im in the same frame of mind as burning star though as i dont really get the other storey(dharmaville)? like the security team there though, haha

  6. No, I think this is partly wrong. There are three beings her not two(Jacob and Esea). If the smoke monster is Esea from the begining than whose body did he take the form of? I believe its possible that the smoke monster is imposter John Locke but the smoke monster is not Esea. Or maybe Esea is just imposster Locke and not the smoke monster. I know it seems so likely that Esea would be the smoke monster thus also the fake Locke but until its explained how the smoke monster took the form of the gray haired guy on the beach with Jacob, I am skeptical.

  7. Yeah, once somebody pointed out to me that the “Locke” in the statue foot was not really Locke but Jacob’s “friend” from the opening (because I stupidly didn’t figure that out), I thought of the fact that that guy was probably smokie. It makes perfect sense! I think you’re dead on.

  8. Also, it seems something stopped “Esau” from killing Jacob. Maybe the loophole was not just being Locke… but that being Locke was how he could convince another to kill Jacob.

  9. prettyheavysoul-Explained how the smoke monster “did it”? Its a SMOKE MONSTER! It’s mystical and mysterious and powerful! It can do whatever it pleases. If it’s not one in the same as the impostor, then it at least obeys him and works toward his goals.
Also on your comment “Or maybe Esea is just imposster Locke and not the smoke monster.”
I think its clear that Esau and the impostor Locke are one in the same for sure. The only thing that stands to be proven is the smoke monster’s role in all of this. I think its at least partially under Esau’s influence, if not actually part of Esau. (After all if he can be dead people, why wouldn’t he be a smoke monster too?)
