Jacob hand selecting people to come to the island?
The only thing I think is off with the whole Jacob hand selecting and bringing people to the island thing is the meetings with the Losties in The Incident episode. When he met Sayid it was after he had already been to the island. I just don’t understand that if it’s so important that Jacob meets the people 1st why is Sayid’s scene after he made it off the island? I like the other posts I’ve read that say he is at their lives at an influential time but is it really that he is touching them so he can bring them to the island? Thoughts?

Just an idea of course, but as it has been croosing my mind for quite a long time I want to share it with you. What if Jacob visited Sawyer and Kate the second time around! This idea hit my mind when Sawyer told Jack that his parents had died one year before and he could have gone home to prevent that to happen but he didn’t because “what’s done it’s done”. So, what if Jacob did go and give the chance to Jim’s uncle to tell him”promise me you’re not going to finish that letter” and he did changing somehow something? As I said, just my idea and it has nothing else to stand.
Check this out – Even though I’m having a hard time with this subject too. On one hand, how often did Jacob interact with everyone? Presumably only once with each individual right? Otherwise everyone would be thinking at some point “Who the hell is this weird dude that’s followin me around?” That being said, how did his one interaction with Kate bring her to the island? Is Jacob all-knowing and in control of the Butterfly effect? “Don’t steal Kate.” BOOM!! She ends up on the island 20 years later? I’m not really seeing how him physically touching people brings them all to the island unless he has some serious powers. Man, the more I’m typing this, the more I think of Jacob as being some crazy Egyptian god or something (He lived under an Egyptian statue) Anyway, I’m not seeing the connection either, how did he bring them all there?
who said he ” brought them there” physically that is. There’s going to be a battle they said. Did Jacob visit every lostie? if not who wasn’t visited Clare? I need to watch it again to make a list but perhaps he wasn’t physically bringing them but Selecting the Losties that he would have on his side during the battle. Perhaps as I commented before in another post this battle isn’t about fighting but changing time. Perhaps this is a paradox that keeps repeating remember when MIB told Jacob still trying to prove me wrong? Perhaps they are stuck in some kind of crappy loop of time and they have repeated things over and over and over again for centuries just to find that no matter what they have done it always ends the same way. What if Jacob is trying to prove to MIB that time can be altered? Would explain Jacob hand picking those he thinks could alter the time line.
but in the end I think the outcome will be the story ending where it started the scene where jack wakes up in the forest and goes and finds the plane wreckage or maybe he was on the black rock this time maybe slightly altering the time line proving slightly that jacob is right and it can be altered. we’ll just have to wait and see but that idea works for me
Yes, I don’t think he touched them simply to bring them back to the island in 1977 because Sun was touched too but she was left in 2007. I suppose he touched them as Jschorrii said to select them for his plan in the final war. Sun maybe was supposed to give her help in 2007 as she wants so badly to find her husband alive.About Locke, was he dead when he fell off the window and Jacob revived him ? And why did Jacob say:”I’m sorrry you have to go through all this?” or something like that? Once again, questions, questions and no answers but just theories!
