we all know that the others took people from the tail section, but what has happened to them? have they travelled about with the losties, if not, why not?

I don’t remember well but I think they took only the children with them and I suppose they are with a group of Others at the temple or in another Dharma station. but that is another answer we need to be given: why were they so interested in the children? Because of the infertility problems, because they are innocent, because they are special?
Oh,yeah, Cindy, the air stewardess the one who talked to Jack in the cage on Hydra island! I’ve read a theory about her who could be one of the others from the beginning but I don’t have a clue on what they could assert so! No idea! Will this ever be explained? Who knows?
thats her name! been trying to remember. also why has juliet gone back in time with everyone. if she does then the tail section and the rest of the others must as well. but why no mention, unless they have a role in s6??!
I’m trying to figure it out as well.Let’s see… most of the survivors from flight 815 were taken by Faraday on the freighter (did I spell it right?): As far as I remember on the beach while the island was moving there were Juliet, Sawyer,Miles, Charlotte. Bernard and Rose. faraday was on the boat (alone or with other survivors?). Jin was in the ocean close enough to be in the island range to move with it. Yes, indeed it’s a good question why Juliet time travelled with our losties instead of being like the others! Any ideas? I can’t think any at the moment!
faraday was with other survivors, but they were quickly killed, mostly by flaming arrows! in terms of the main 6 or 7 others characters, they were either killed at the end of s4 or off the island, eg ben, except for juliet. we know there are many more others tho, eg the book club for starters. if juliet moved then so would the others. but where are these people! and what about richard! i too am convinced that cindy has a larger role to play, if for no other reason than i recogmise the actress from other programmes, so why would she accept such a small role?
the director said part of the problem is some of the main characters didn’t want to continue on with the show ecko was one of them they said some stories might never be answered like that of the stewardess. without the actress the only way they can explain what happened to them is death, left the island, human sacrifice j/k they have to do it through conversation though not all characters will have a full blown explanation children and other survivors taken had special telepathic abilities perhaps that would explain the infatility perhaps they were using drugs on the mothers to highten telepathic abilities that would also explain why they came to make locke part of their school but he proved not able to perform to their liking. It would explain alot about the children taken and so on. My question is are the others like a religious cult? following jacobs every will marching together along the beach to meet jacob following a religious leader to statue etc?
understand the point on actors leaving, but that is some leap to drunks and telepathic powers, based on no fact. i would be surprised if all of the others are dead so you would think they travelled back as well. given there were plenty of others there before the plane crash, there should be no issues with actors
Charliealltheway, to answer your question regarding ‘the tailies’, initially 22 survivors were taken on the first night, and another nine were taken after that.
From Lostpedia, “In the end, when the tail-end and the middle section survivors were reunited, only four ‘tailies’ remained: Ana Lucia, Mr. Eko, Libby, and Bernard. After the murders of Ana Lucia and Libby, and Eko’s death in “The Cost of Living”. Bernard remains the only tail section survivor that is neither dead nor captured (and was in fact only in the tail section to use the restroom). Five of the “taken” tailenders joined the Others: Cindy, Emma, Zach, and two ‘tailies’ background (#08 and #09)”.
I guess we are supposed to use our imaginations, and surmise that they are amongst the group of ‘others’, seen on the beach at the end of the season somewhere.
This may be another element of Lost which we may not get too many more details on, but I hope we learn the significance of why they took the children.
Dabiatchishere you are a real professional and I would give you a master in Lost! I’m just a beginner compared to you as I’ve began only recently to log in for theories and I can only rely on my memory after watching all the seasons so far only once. You must have read and learnt a lot and I want to thank you for your comments always so brilliant and clarifying.
pennyanddes, thanks for the compliment, and please call me dabs. I do have a fairly good memory, but rely upon Lostpedia. Unfortunately, searching for information on the system there, is not all that user friendly.
When Locke united with the Others and was welcomed as their new leader (Season 4 Finale), Ben simultaniously worked the Donkey Wheel and set it off it’s axis. As a result the Island moved and was dislodged in time.
As we saw with Locke he moved along with the Island everytime it skipped. So did Sawyer, Juliet and Co. but not the Others. This suggests that the group surrounding Richard must be different not just to our Losties but to Juliet as well.
My explanation for that is the Others are united through some kind of bond, we the audience are currently not aware of. But consider this scene from “Whatever Happened, Happened”, when Kate delivered the young and wounded Ben to Richard:
RICHARD: If I take him, he’s not ever gonna be the same again.
KATE: What do you mean by that?
RICHARD: What I mean is that, he’ll forget this ever happened, and that…his innocence will be gone. He will always be one of us. You still want me to take him?
To me it strongly suggests a secret bond the Others share, which also involves the Temple, because that’s the place Richard took young Ben to.
We also know there always remained a group of Others at the Temple. And because we didn’t see Cindy and the rest of the kidnapped survivors from the tailsection with Richard, we must conclude they are at the Temple as well. They have been ‘otherized’ there so to speak.
But what about Juliet? She’s an Other, isn’t she? Well, she was.
There are two possibilities:
#1 Juliet never shared this secret bond. Maybe she never visited the Temple while living on the Island.
#2 Think back to Season 3 “Stranger in a Strange Land”. When Juliet just has killed Picket, one of her own people. She, by doing so, broke the rules. As Alex explained to Jack:
JACK: Where’s Juliet?
ALEX: She’s with the rest of them. They’re going to read her verdict.
JACK: Her verdict?
ALEX: And we all know what it’s going to be. We’re pretty strict about killing one of our own. Eye for an eye.
Juliet was considered an outlaw. As the rules demand she should have been executed. But Jack offered Ben a deal: He would play Ben’s doctor throughout his recovery from surgery and Juliet in turn would be left alone. Ben agreed and sent a note. At the trial:
ISABEL: [reading] Ben has commuted Juliet’s sentence. Execution is off the table. He says the rules don’t apply. He has, however, ordered her to be marked.
Maybe this mark is the answer. Because she received it Juliet may have lost the status of being an Other. She no longer shared a bond with them which excluded her of the group and equated her with the Losties and resulted ultimately in her skipping through time with Sawyer and Co.
Bernard wasn’t supposed to be a taily, he was sitting next to Rose when the plane ht turbulence he must have ran and got into the nearest seat ( Tail Section ) and also, Nathan used the rest toom.

it was not just the children. also some adults including the air stewardess
