Timelines converge
There have been alot of good theories written lately. Some for and some against alt timelines. We have seen evidence of there being at least two with the difference in Dharmavilles. But not everything was different in the 2007 that Sun, Ben, and Lapidus end up in. On hydra Island Bens’ office was still his office and the runway that the Others were working on is still there. The numbers Ajira 316 picks up on the radio that we know from watching the show were turned off.  So what’s going on?
I think what we are seeing is the island in flux time. Some things that we have been shown still happened and other things happened quite differently. No time outranks any other for the Island to be able to choose one way or the other. My understanding of science isn’t as strong as some other peoples on this site but from what I’ve knowledge I have gathered from reading about how time may or may not work is that when we make one choice in our lives another world comes into existence with the other choice having been made. The timeline we follow is the only “real” one to us.
With the Islands special properties perhaps more than one can coexist at the same time. So when it does come time for in season six for a choice to made the realities will converge and become the reality for the Losties and everyone else.
 Ofcourse that means another existence will split off with the other decision having been made. Man is this suff confusing!
Roland, I really like your take on ‘flux time’. If more than one time-line can exist on ‘the island’, it makes perfect sense that an alternate time-line could also exist.
The writers have stated that S6 will demonstrate to the audience a better understanding of the Flashbacks, FF’s, etc.
We only know what (we), the audience have observed with our own eyes, and have made determinations based upon those observations.
Who is to say that what our ‘eyes’ have been viewing, in actuality has not been somewhat illusory in nature, blurring the lines of reality.

I like this. I just wrote a “Debate” that is pointing to similar points regarding things in Dharmaville.
I agree that there will be changes. I have been saying for a long time that the changes that will occur in season 6 will NOT necessarilly be from what everyone believes…which is the incident.
I believe the change will be season 6…involve Locke, Jacob, MIB, either Hurley or Miles, Aaron, and most importantly Desmond. He, and he alone is the only one I feel can actually change anything.

Good theory Roland. I think they’ll have to use the specialness of thr island to explain the arteracts from seemingly two timelines on the island at the same time. I guess that’s the fiction part of sci-fi, the island is a special place where this can happen.
