Jacks Tattoos and the Dark vs. Light theme
Written 3rd February
Okay, I know this has proabaly been discussed to death but I have just been going over my Lost notebook and it just kind of fell open to season one. I know that Matthew Fox already had those tattoos but they could have easily just put tattoo cover on them *I have to do that for work* but the writers intentionally decided to incorporate into Jack’s character. Isabel translates it, “He walks amongst us, but he is not one of us.”
He replies, “That’s what it says bu that’s not what it means.”
Now according to the lady who did them (she said she was gifted and able to see a person’s inner identity) he was a leader and a “great man” (sound familiar?). Now, I know that that rumor that there is something in the pilot that gives us a clue to how the show ends has been debunked (but there wasn’t suspose to be any ALT or time travel either) but remember how when Kate is about to stictch Jack up and she asks what color and replies “standard black”. Now along with this, the tattoos, the fact that some us think Ray (his grandfather) was in fact an Other, he is the only person that knows how Lost ends besides the writers, he is obviously the most important characrter (has had the most centric episodes) and his father had a lot to do with getting some of the other Losties as well as him on that plane and it all starts to add up. I don’t know maybe I am reading too much into every little detail. But then again Locke was seen in Claire’s dream with the two stones that Adam and Eve had in his eyes (one white and one black) perhaps truly foreshadowing him to be a man divided (between two opposing sides, MIB and Jacob, one light ans one dark). So maybe I am on to something.
