Paradox (Plane landing in LA)

Written 4th February

It is pradoxial for the plane to land in LA and I think that is why we are seeing two completely different timelines.

For the plane to land in LA in 2004, the hydrogen bomb has to go off in the seventies and stop the hatch from ever being built…etc which ultimately stops Desmond from forgetting to push the button.

But for the bomb to go off, the Losties have to crash onto the Island followed by the sequence of events that led them to end up in the seventies which enabled them to set off the hydrogen bomb.

So we see one alternative realisty where the Island is underwater and because there was never a hatch, all the characters fullfill their destinies (Hurley is ‘the luckiest man alive’ rather than being cursed, John goes on his walkabout and Desmond is also on the plane from Aus to LA becuase there was never a hatch for him to be in.

The other alternative reality is where the bomb detonation does not work. Instead the radiation interacts with the electromagnetis of the incident and the losties are transported through time from the seventies to 2007 – the same point in time that they would have been at had the Island not been moved in the first place. This is where the story will play out as we really find out what the plane crash survivors were meant to do – something to do with Jacob and his nemesis the smoke monster. Jacob said in his last words  “they’re coming” – they (the losties and Juliet) were coming from the past to the present!!

I hope this makes sense. It’s not at all easy to explain temperal displacement theories in words!!!

  1. Faraday couldnt have explained the science of it better himself…nicely done.

The only difference between our explanations is where there true destiny is…I feel it could be reversed, and the island is supposed to be their fate.

Just because Jacob took a hand in things doesnt mean that it wasnt supposed to happen.

I wouldnt be suprised one bit to see the people from off island “flash” one way or another back to the island.

Something doesnt sit right with the new timeline being the true destiny.

Charlie said he “was supposed to die”.

And where is Christians body…I bet not in Australia…

And I still dont think that Desmond was on the plane…

Remember when Mrs….(from the others) asked Michael if Walt ever turned up in places “where he wasnt supposed to be”?

I think that could be yet another way of “flashing”.

Chief (#2), I think your explanation is dead on for who “they” are…and what happens when Juliet died, but I still have a hard time buying into the new timeline as being the correct one for our Losties.

Nice post…and no…its not easy to explain at all…
